I'm currently training for 5k - 8k in 15:30 / 26:00. Running about 75-80mpw. My peak will be in mid-December which is simply when my plan comes to an end and I'll be running a few indoor 5ks.
I'm in very good aerobic shape and looking at running 13.1 this weekend. If I go all in on the half this weekend and run all-out, will this require a ton of recovery before resuming normal training?
I was basically thinking I'd probably need a good 5 days or so of just easy running after, and then resume workouts. I've never ran a half seriously so just don't know what to expect with recovery.
I know people often race shorter distances to tune up for bigger races. Is it stupid to go longer? I know guys like Frank Shorter and Rodgers used to race all the time.
