Seriously, that was a terrible 1500m race

What? It was the fastest 1500 world's final since El Guerrouj 1999. Done in a solo race, without rabbit. That was a GREAT race/performance. Also nothing suspicious about Tim, just very strong training and hard work in an insane training group.
I really don't know how a better 1500 final would need to look like. Rather want them all to run 3:40 and then sprint the last 100? 1) Lewandowski would win 2) a 3:40 isn't nearly as impressive as a 3:29, we don't want to go back to Mo Farah racing style.
Great race. Kept the pace HONEST from the beginning instead of the BORING "jog 3 laps and sprint" CRAP that all too many races have become. Congrats to the Kenyans.
Tactical doesn't only mean slow. If you're best chance to win is to go Balls to the walls, you should do it that way.
Kenyans are not kickers! They is how they do it, always.
Americans are kickers.

Honest? The first 600 was at above WR pace.
I agree it was great. That was real high level 1500m.
Not a stupid 3:50 Centrowitz victory.
The Kenyattas used the Ben Jipcho/Kip Keino tactic from the 1968 1500. They're willing to sacrifice individual glory for the glory of their nation. As long as a Kenyan wins they don't care who it is.

Kwemoi followed and fell off. Cheruiyot did all of the pushing. Solo effort.
Cheruiyot is the king wrote:

You don't understand team racing. It's not who leads, it's the tactic of not being totally alone in front. Kwemoi's job was to stay with Cheruiyot as long as he could.
Seeing Kwemoi, Centro, and Engels get owned was the best part of the race.
Kenyans schooled them all. They know that nobody there can handle a real fast race, and all they had to do is run their own race and victory is promised.
Pretty much

You should say 'fast' instead of 'honest'.
Nothing honest about the winner.

Or maybe of the losers.

MANY, not "maybe"

Where was Kiprop from and what was his specialty race distance?
Jakob is a great runner and hopefully he will continue to develop. Today he went to school (1500m 101) and got taught on how to run the 1500m event. It may serve him well in the future.

If you are best chance?
There are several guys in the field who can run 3:29 but nobody other than Kwemoi went with Cheruiyot when he broke away, so nobody else got the advantage of drafting off of him. In contrast to Hassan's performance, where she let others lead for a bit and then gradually ratcheted it up, and so many could draft off of her, here Cheruiyot did not let that happen and Makhloufi and Centro, leading the others, where out there alone, having to do the work at a pace they couldn't handle without pacers. Cheruiyot and Hassan both did what could get them a victory without worrying about the kick and they were obviously both head and shoulders above the rest of their fields. Makh Daddy now has Olympic gold, two Olympic silver medals, and a World silver, all but one of those being in the 1500m.
