I've developed plantar fasciitis in my right heel and am trying to figure out what to do about running. I was planning to run CIM in December, but that's probably unlikely at this point. I think it all started during a trip to Europe where I was walking all day in sandals and doing workouts in Vaporflys on cobblestones. I have tried pretty much everything for PF, including time off (didn't help), but I still have pain that comes and goes.
If I run, it doesn't seem to get worse necessarily, but it still aches. My orthopedist said I can run as long as the pain is not getting "worse." Basically he compared it to shin splints, although the last time I had shin splints they turned into a stress fracture, so I'm not so optimistic about that advice. He said a cortisone shot won't fix it, just help the pain. But if he's telling me I can run anyway, what's the harm with a cortisone shot?
