Very funny! You cannot shut up the negative ninnies on letsrun.com
He will get silver....no way he beats Sir Timothy. But no one else has the strength/ speed to get him. Calling Engels or Lewadanski for third. Both looked great.
i think he'll finish top 6,at a stretch.
The 5k showed he doesn't have the closing strength to win a championship. I picked him to get 3rd and I think that'll be the case. He won't beat Timothy and Centro. They'll be top 2.

Calling it now, you'll never post under this anonymous username after Sunday!
Psychologically, he seems a train wreck. Hard for me to call the result, though, in such a short event.

Centro
Tim
Jakob
Interesting seeing Kwemoi back. The Ingebrigtsens have one large deficiency that is being exposed at these champs, not enough 800m speed and a change of pace.
Totally agree! I said this on these boards after Jacob lost the European indoor 1500 to the big pole and was widely criticised. Even at 5K he did not have the change of pace to win it in the final 150. He is more likely to break the WR than win a gold medal.
If the final follows the pattern of most recent 1500 finals, ie very slow pace, I would not be at all surprised if he fails to get a medal.
Bold prediction; one of the Brits will win a medal.

I bett none of those will win (but everyone of them can medal):
- Centro not in top shape
- Tim, poor tactics
- Jakob, poor tactics and not enough speed

Likelihood of JI being DQ’ed for shoving > likelihood of him winning

What race did you watch?
Him losing the 5k had nothing to do with top speed but rather running into the famous lactid-acid-popping-through-your-ears wall.
That said, I don't think he has enough top speed for this.
Not sure Lewa and Centro are better candidates either, none of them looked convincing.
If I were to bet I'd say it will be decent pace, sub 3:35, with Cherioyut to win.
Behind him it's wide open, but I'll go with Jakob that's been clear number 2 this season and a surprise 3rd for Engels.

I also admit that I'm posting under an anonymous name and am a coward who won't response if he loses. But if he wins, I'll say see, I'm the only person in the entire world who thought that he would win, even his Mom found out from me because, well...I said it first. Wait, what? Oh, others already thought that but didn't post it. Wow, now I feel like a spoiled snowflake.
Bumped into him getting out of an Uber at the mall downtown today. Looked like he's ready to headbutt someone during the final.

On no planet does he have a better chance of setting a WR than winning a gold. He is nowhere close to having WR 5k speed. He can't even break 13 yet. Those 25 seconds between his PR and the WR is are as big as an ocean. Never going to happen.

Not only will Jakob NOT win the Gold Medal, he will not win any medal. He will finish 4th at best when everyone out kicks him down the straightaway.

Centro knows how to race when it matters. People may have forgotten about him as he hasn't been in his best shape this year, but that late 13:00 has to indicate a level of strength. He still ran sub 3:32 last season.

Centro was lucky to make the finals.
Only way he can medal if it's another bizarre race like Rio.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
