But it's not fair for a guy to train his whole life and then have a medal taken from him because some guy comes into his lane.

I agree however, the only people who should be permitted to do a re-run is to where McLeod materially affected the outcome of their race. The only person who would qualify for the re run is Ortega. Nobody else should be allowed to re run because their own individual race was not impacted by McLeod's actions. I'd say let Ortega do a solo re-run and if his time is faster than anyone on the medal podium make the shift from there.
Another option is for the IAAF to place in a rule where if you materially affect the outcome of someone else's race, you should be fined a monetary value and the person affected would then receive that as compensation.
