Not sure why she kept pushing, maybe other than to get a big effort in since she's lightly raced.
She'd never broken 15:00 before today.

Thanks for spoiling it for those of us that actually work for a living.

Ugh, Can we not count Reginaroid on that list?

Not saying I think she should have hammered this race, but Karissa has always been the type to need to win her heat heats. She was like this in college too, I guess it must be a confidence thing for her which sometimes is as important as fitness. She's young and competitive and probably got carried away, the good news is she's fit and has 3 days to recover. -

If you don't want the results spoiled for you at work then don't go on letsrun -
She doesn’t get to race often and she was on PR pace with her PR so close to the 15:00 barrier and 3 days to recover, why not push for a few more seconds?

Agreed! Karissa is #6 all-time. -

She wanted to break 15. She feels she let one get away at The Sunset Tour and she's fit and it didn't take that much out of her to get it done. They feel confident enough in her fitness and 3 days rest and they believe she can medal.
Jerry instructs her to stay on the rail, but I worry about that. Too many legs and the final will be very tactical (I doubt the winner will break 15) so I hope she has some flexibility to get off the rail and run a smarter race, even if some of it is on the outside of lane 1. She's a smart cookie and although she's a new pro, this isn't her first rodeo. -
If Klosterhalfen is in the 5000m final, it will surely be fast. Even if she isn't, these women's long distance races are fast. That is a fine performance for Schweizer. She's very unlikely to medal, so I am glad she took her chance. Besides, she probably hasn't raced in months anyway.

Sad she won't be anywhere close to the front in the final when the dopers run 14:20.

Koko won't take it out fast, too many eyes on her and too much suspicion if she drops another 14:26 or better. She will do exactly what she did in qualifying today, just going for the win and saving it for the last K. -

Pretty simple psychology. Regardless of what happens in the final, she wanted the best PB possible when the situation presented itself.
She knows the dopers are going to run 14:20. She'll be competing for a medal she might inherit in ten years, if the IAAF ever grows a spine. -

She’s done. Poor execution and/or coaching. -

I will be surprised if the winner is above 14:40 - not with Koko and Obri going at it. -

Thats the problem. If they were actually working, nothing would be spoiled. It would also help not to be an idiot. Who goes to a running board during WC and doesn't expect to see results? -
Splits:
3:05.05
3:04.53
3:00.44
2:56.00
2:46.39
Could you imagine what she could do with even splits, and better weather. I mean I wouldn’t be surprised if she is in 14:3x shape right now if she was in the Houlihan like time trial last year. -

That's why they run the race, we will all find out together on the 5th. Should be fun! -

This is why Jakob was smart to dive at the line. Edris and Barega might not have those medals by 2025.
