So I've been wearing the pegasus for about 4 years now and after about 100 miles in the 2005 pegs, I'm done with them. The upper doesn't fit right, the heal comes up too high and shreds the back of my feet. I brought them back to the shoe store, the sales clerk said that people have been saying they're alright, but no one has said they love them.
What do other people think?
I work in a running store and the Pegasus 2005 definately isn't catching on with regular Pegasus customers. Poor fit seems to be the main issue along with instability in the midsole. Try the Mizuno Rider, sweet shoe!
i been wearin peg 2000, but they recently discontinued the id version so no more peg 2000. i really like the 2005 and i also think the peg racer is good
I just switched from the 2004 to 2005. The two problems I've had in the 2004 went away in the 2005.
1. Little right toe was always taking friction to the point where I had to tape it on long runs.
2. The outside part of my feet, below both big toes, used to wear right through the sole. With the 2005 it is happening, but at a much slower pace.
Otherwise, I haven't noticed much of a difference between the two.
On paper it isn't too bad, but in reality, the Peg has gotten so big and puffed out (both the midsole and the fit). If you like Nike, maybe try the Skylon. Otherwise, check out the Wave Rider (though even this seems overbuilt compared to a couple years ago). The Peg used to be on the somewhat lighter side of the spectrum, but now this, and many others are getting more and more substantial.
Won a pair for a race and have them on this morning. Don't like them. Would use other shoes if I had some, but necessity dictates...right?
I've always seem to come back to the Pegasus. It's a solid shoe that has always seemed to work for me. I personally like the 2005 as it seems to have more cushioning compared to my other shoes, and that's important as most of my running is on concrete. It's also usually reasonably priced.
My son loves the Wave Rider. He has the comparable model of racing flat, and I bought him the training flat after finding that he was wearing his racing flats for his runs instead of the Nike shoe he had.
I actually did the majority of my spring training in the Mizuno Wave Aero. It actually reminded me of the 2000 Pegasus. Light 9ish oz, flexible, cushioned, but not mushy. Typical Mizuno - smooth and responsive.

I am still wearing 2002's for the last 2 1/2 years. I have one more pair left. I do have a pair of the 2005's to walk around in and they do not even come close to the comfort of the 2002.
2002 was the worst shoe I have ever run in, too wide, too stiff and too hard, put me off buying nike for 2 years, tried the 2004 and it was better but still too bulky, the pegasus tc is closer to old versions of the pegasus, the 2005 looks like it turns up like a banana. The skylon is the best nike shoe out there, don't understand why it isn't the top seller, wish they'd stick a bit more outsole on it though.
Too stiff, too hard? The 2000 was too soft and the 2004 was not much of an improvement. I have a pair of the 2005s in a box. Trying them on in the store, the upper seemed narrower up by the toe box. Definitely a stiffer ride this time though.
I keep hearing good things about the new Skylons, but I have not seen them or had a chance to try them yet.
what about the posting in the shoe? has anyone felt that change?
I like them a lot. I really liked the old (late 90s Skylons) and these are close to that feel. I prefer a shoe that is narrow and has a firmer upper and this one certainly does. Nice and neutral, too. One thing I don't like is those round laces. They seem to come loose every half hour or so.
Pegasus 2005 has less cushion, and a more confined forefoot. I feel like I need an extra .5 in my shoe size. BOO.
r u talkin bout skylon or pegs?
I have worn the 2000, 2002, 2004, and 2005 pegs and loved all of them. The 2005 is definitely the most different but it didn't take long to get used to them. I didn't think I would like them as much but they are good shoes. I really like the new Skylong as well, it feels a lot like the pegasus only with a more narrow upper but its also a softer upper that fits really nice to your foot. I liked the wave rider 7's alright and am thinking or maybe trying out the wave rider 8's or maybe wave precision's.
Pegasus. I was a fan of the old Skylons, and these new Pegs are similar in feel, I find.

I loved the Peg 98 and 02 but the 05 is terrible so stiff. I tried some Fila's providence great feels like the rider but more cushioned. I also have got the Landreth great shoes.
