She looked so strong before that last 100m and then... looked uncharacteristically 'off'.. she usually finishes very strong and the time wasn't her fastest either.
Anyone know if there's an injury or illness going on? Or did she just not 'have it' today?

Pretty simple. Made too many moves before the final straight. Her first 200 was way too fast and holding off Goule on the back straight took too much out of her. Didn't have enough left in the final 100.
That said, Nakaayi should have been DQed for her antics in the semis but I guess the IAAF didn't see enough in it.
She forgot there's no beef in Qatar.

Eight-hundred metres congestion will only get worse. As the world population increases, as athletes in Under Developed Nations get better all the time, we are at 800m peak performance, but more and more runners will race close to world records. In U.S. high school and small colleges, we used to race 440 yards either with no stagger or one turn stagger. It was crazy! Eight-hundred metres needs to be raced as a four turn stagger race.

The winner clipped her. I'm surprised the winner made it to the final - she should have been DQ'ed in the semis.

she opened with a 26high 200m split with no men to block the wind for her.
getting clipped didn't do anything if you saw it live.
Went out too hard trying to get the lead in the first 200. Again had to go hard on the backstretch of the second lap when Goule tried to pass. After that, had nothing left in the stretch. Wilson likes to wind it up from 300 out, but with Goule pressing her she had to use up too much of her kick holding her off. Would have been better off letting Goule pass, then repass on the homestretch, but that is not Wilson's style. Maybe it wouldn't have mattered. Nakaayi and Rogers just looked fresher.

NBC gave her too much credit all week. Ajee Wilson hasn't proven anything to be considered a favorite on that level. Maybe a plurality favorite but certainly not odds-on.
The winner should have been booted from the semifinal. But once she somehow got excused from that atrocity it was obvious she had more finishing kick than anyone else in the field.
Poor tactical race. Ajee is not a natural frontrunner in a field of that caliber. Consequently she was rank from the outset. Once the split was 58 instead of 59 I knew she was in trouble.
Rogers was a greater disappointment, IMO. Once Ajee was pushing too hard on the backstretch it seemed unlikely she could hold on. I kept looking for Rogers to get her act together and sense what was going on.
Instead she not only waited far too late but somehow brainstormed to take it a full lane wider than needed. Check that finishing kick again. Roger was passing phantom runners in lane 3 when she should have been in lane 3 herself.
What's a meter here or a meter there? I'm never annoyed when a sucker stretch runner comes up short.
