Last year was perfect. Expect a warm, muggy slugfest this year.

Withdrew several weeks ago due to the weather forecast.
Thx for the heads up! I'm out too.

Seems unnecessary as Chicago's forecast changes within the hour - let alone a month out.
Currently says a high of 65 - partly cloudy - humidity in the 50s. Seems like great weather.
Hope you signed up for something else at least.

Guessing this is a troll thread b/c the dew point is showing at 38 right now (accuweather), and likely to change in the next week anyways.
Seems like it will be quite cold at the start line... 35F expected with some wind :/

Thanks, if you're not running then I'll definitely be running. I'll be shooting for a 2:35 range race. We don't need another sub 4 hour guy like you to ruin the mean score.
Damn I guess I need to cancel all my booked stuff and scratch myself, the cool start it shows right now must not even be close if it's going to be a warm muggy slugfest. Oh well!
UPDATE: 37°F, rain, and NNW winds @20 mph, gusts to 40!

Is that a HeadWind or would they be running with the wind at their back?

Both, as the course travels in each direction. I am not an expert on the course, but I think this would mean slightly more tailwind than headwind, and mostly in the middle miles. But it could mean some tough running into a stiff wind in the final miles.

Last year there was some wind from the N or ENE. The wind wasn't up that much at the start of the race, and the portion of the course heading up seems less exposed, so it wasn't really an issue. And it's easier to tuck in behind people in the earlier stages. I think we did have the tailwind for a good portion coming back down. When we finally turned back N again at around mile 23, there was a noticeable headwind all the way up to the finish.
With NNW, there's perhaps a greater chance the buildings block some of it. Anyone who lives in Chicago know?
But it's still almost a full week out. Time for everything to change.
As of right now, weather channel app is saying Saturday night should be 42F with Sunday high of 52. It's saying Sunday winds of 20 mpw (WNW). Neither day showing precipitation. Let's see how it develops.
I live in the area. It's only Monday, so I think this could change by the weekend. I think they're pretty good at predicting the temperature range this far out, but not so much on precipitation or wind. I'm also racing it, and I'm telling myself that it's good that we're getting this windy forecast on Monday and not on Friday. I hope the predicted wind speeds come down by the weekend. This morning was absolutely perfect -- the leaves at the tops of the trees were hardly moving.
If it is windy, the buildings don't really help much in my opinion. Find a good group to run with and tuck in.
I feel like the buildings will only amplify the winds impact. Which could be both good and bad.

Not trying to be a jerk, but you do know that, by the laws of physics, this is not actually possible, right?

*Yes, I know the wind tunnel effect. It requires buildings >20 stories. This doesn't apply to 99% of the course.
