A great and stunning run by Bryce Hoppel.
To everyone who says you can't race a ton, to says you can't run Pan Ams, take that!! Kid has been racing since January and he just made the WC final.
Oh my. The jus tinterviews Hoppel on tv in America and as he was walking off he said, "Look for the sweep".
800 Nation Baby!!! "Look for the sweep." Team USA with 3 in the 800 Final.

STUNNING and BRAVE -
Sweep??? With Ferguson Rotich in the final?? very laughable 😂
-
Yeah good luck on a sweep...Brazier will win, Murphy and Hoppel with come 5-7th...Calling Rotich, Tuka, with Arop maybe stealing a medal. Vasquez is a beast but he just smoked himself today. Calling him for 6th

Sorry el k. Kenya is going home DEVASTATED. -
So which 800 sweep is more likely - US men or women? I think the women have a slightly better chance.
-
Sweeps unlikely, women's side anyone can win especially with the two Ugandans elbowing, pushing and shoving others.
NB I am not El K, sorry to disappoint u guys. -
That is a very characteristic el keniano post.
Sweep is possible but unlikely. Brazier has a great shot at gold, Murphy at bronze, but Murphy is looking too tentative, hanging back and not getting himself in good position, while Hoppel has excellent tactical credentials but isn't the 1:43 guy you need. Vazquez should not go out crazy in 23 again, amazing he held on to break 1:44, but if he goes out sensible in more like 24.5/25, 26, 27.5, it will be too fast for Hoppel but I would like Brazier's chances. Murphy can't just hope that everyone will come back to him. He needs to be in contact with the leaders of the second pack after 400m and close to Vazquez by 700m.

usa runners would not be tipping off lrc.msm to "look for the sweep" if there was not an ulterior plan present
payoff enough ppl, trip up drug tests after fact, dq here and there, end up with 1-2-3 flag-waving! -
The USA is generously gifted in the 800: first Murphy in 2015, , then Brazier in 2016, now Hoppel. A sweep would be historic and epic, in a way more satisfying even than Courtney and Emma's 1-2.
-
Brazier will win easily. Rotich will break up the sweep.

1. Rotich
2. Brazier
3. A European
4. An American
I have called it. -
Brazier has a better chance of winning than anyone else, but I wouldn't put his chances at more than like 30-40%. No chance of a sweep.
Would've said no chance at Emma and Courtney going 1-2 two years ago though. But that took an all-time horrible gaffe. -

1) When one is asked to race the 1600m anchor leg of medley relay then asked 1/2 an hour later asked to race 4 x 1600m relay, one knows T&F is a team sport.
2) When one is asked to race 1/2 mile and one mile in the same meet, one knows T&F is a team sport.
3) When one has dead legs from racing one mile then T&F coach walks over to you carrying a clip board and tells you you are needed for 4 x 440yd. relay, one knows T&F is a team sport.
4) When one is asked to race 220 yard dash, then immediately enter two mile, one knows T&F is a team sport. -

Exactly.
At least in college and high school.
Ask Edward Cheserek. He single handedly won Oregon its national championships by trippling and even quadrupling.
Small town high school studs regularly triple and quadruple at State and meets all season in order to get team wins. Sprinters regularly do individual events and relays doubling, tripling, and some jump and sprint plus relays.
800 studs can do 4s, miles, medleys, 4x4s plus even 4x2s.
