Why 125 m ?
Not 100 or 200 or 150 ?
For getting best results your training schedule should be focused on your individuality.
I think there is no limited time, just full rest.
we did stuff like this in college
i think we did 45-60s rest
i prefer to do it with like 90-120s rest when i really want to focus on form. your fitness should allow you do do it on shorter rest, but i liked to get my mind on something else before doing another rep
it probably doesn't matter much

Nice idea, 5 euros :D
Sorry I meant to say this workout is for GOAL pace, not current.
My 400 PRs is 56.3 from HS, I am 33 and want to match or beat that within two months. I stilll can run sub 60. My fitness would allow me to do 125 reps at 56 pace on 20-30s rest.
I’m thinking of maybe doing walk back recoveries.
When you were in college (I never ran in college) how many reps did you do?
When I ran 54.3 400 m
During winter I did 10 x 150 in 19-20 sec plus tons of different jumps.
During season I did 5 x 150 m in 18 and 10 x 200 in 26-27 sec.
Also I ran 800 m in 2:04, so I did extra strength reps like 400-1000 m.
Basically your legs should be strong (jumps, gym workout) and by means of that you could run pretty fast 200 m, but also
you should have enough of specific endurance (a little bit slower, than 400 m).
Some 10 x 200 m at 800 m pace or 4 x 400 m with full recovery.
If both are OK, you will do a fast 400 m.
not specific.
I meant "special".

"For best results." I guess that depends on the desired result? Are you trying to develop speed? Do a speed endurance workout? Endurance? Those will all be different amounts of rest and different number of reps.
Assuming this is some sort of tempo run, I'd do maybe 3x8, with 30 seconds rest between reps, 4 to 5 minutes between sets.

Speed development is my goal.
