Since talk of Purdue is wasting precious internet space, I hope that it stops. With that in mind...I will make some predictions. I am not going to go very deep...but I am sure this is what will happen.
1). Wisconsin- Unless Robert Gary, Rob Myers and Jesse Owens run for the Buckeyes...hold that, Wisconsin would still win. Too much talent to lose this one...and if they don't start putting from the rough again, they have an NCAA title in the bag as well. And with that being said...Fuck Wisconsin.
2). Ohio State- All of the sudden Olinger is world class. They have the two frosh studs (See and Fox) who are big talents. I am guessing that Glaz will "bust a nut" and have a good Big Ten meet. Let's face it though, the Buckeye mascot is clearly playing tummy sticks during his free time.
3). Indiana- Let's hope that this year's Big Ten meet goes off without a hitch for the Hoosiers. I.E. No pornographic pictures of the Jefferson's on the internet. With the emergence of Haas as a front runner and the Jefferson's who seem to have unending eligibility...this could be a big year for the Hoosiers. I would put them in 2nd but that would require three BK's...Bob Kennedy, Bobby Knight and switch from Nike to British Knights. They have a great line out this fall.
4). Minnesota- With the Big Tens being at Minnesota this year, I forsee a big meet for the Gophs. They return Malmin from an All American season. Grumstrup is off a red shirt and Antonio Vega was right behind Nelson and Bairu at the Big Ten 10k. Throw in Rombough who is the best recruit in the conference...looking at my picks, the Gophs could finish as high as 2nd, or they could finish with Purdue. That's the way they roll...Man Purdue is bad.
5). Iowa- They had a great Big Ten Meet last year and get everyone back. This could be a big year for the Hawkeyes, but it seems like the whole conference is really ready to go. This is they way I see it, if Esche isn't Fleshy and Mctaggert doesn't run like Mcfaggert...the beloved Hawks could make a run at top 3.
6). Michigan- This is hard for me to put them this low. I think Ronnie will have the boys ready and they had a great recruiting class. But let's face it, they lost some big names. I can't think of them right now...but I think they lost a few good guys.
Illinois- Y
Michigan St.- A
Penn St.- W
Purdue- N
Here is the burning question though...could Northwestern (who does not have a cross country team) field a team of students that could beat Purdue? I am talking pick them in the summer and train them for this season. I vote yes.
