This won't be the first time this place has totally dropped one, but with a Bro saying they were going to put together this exact thing a few months back …
Say we see a 1:59 tomorrow. Then what?

The Ineos Second to be 1:59 Event
Am I missing something ? Is there a downhill sub 2 attempt tomorrow ?
Video overview of the course
Interesting policy. If you are not from Spain, to sign up, you are forced to buy a 5 day vacation package along with your entry. Elite entries arent required to buy the vacation package, elite entry cutoff times are 2:15 and 2:35 (for women). Only residents of Spain can buy just a marathon entry without the vacation package.
They havent really advertised this sub two attempt, any info for who is trying it?
Anybody want to hazard a guess on how much benefit you get from that much downhill? Obviously it's at least multiple minutes, I'm guessing about 10 minutes of benefit.
But is 4.6% average downhill grade beyond the ideal slope? Or are you still getting increased benefit at that slope? Seems like it could be rough on the quads if you arent used to it.
anyone getting the livestream to work? I can't see anything.
nevermind it's on.
this is funny
Looks like one guy has been dropped and it's down to the other no-name Kenyan
No splits or names or audio at all
This is awesome!
There's a live results page but it still doesn't have a 5k split ... so maybe there will be no splits.
Definitely an exciting affair
13:43 5K
No one will break the world record in a downhill course. Those course torch your legs insanely bad by mile twenty if they do go out in wR pace the last 6 miles will fall apart and they will finish in 2:05-2:07
The lead car guy gave a thumbs up and fist pump as they passed what looked like a 15k mat so presumably he's on pace
Lmao his projected half marathon split is 58:52 15k in 41 min????

People run much faster than their flat marathon PRs all the time on downhill courses so it could definitely happen if the runner is good enough

I’ve run 2:53 in Chicago and ran 2:51 on a Revel downhill course. You can go out extremely hot on downhill courses but your legs are so trashed at the end that you slow down which evens things out. So yeah, let’s say he’s a 2::09-2:07 guy he will PR his half and then suck the last 6 miles and finish in 2:03-2:05 . He’s not getting a 30-35 mins increase like some people claim you get off running downhill.

How much did you practice running downhill?
