This is definitely on the IAAF, but that’s pretty rich coming from Willis after the whole big deal that was made about him being a fixture in international competition or whatever.
It's a shame they stuffed it up and ruined some people's season. Willis will be better off nailing the Tokyo time and should do it with ease now. Doha is a crap hole of a place so not sure what the point would be other than adding it to the collection.
All this mess and the system for Tokyo is quite different again and I don't think IAAF have thought this through either as there will be similar situations but also different issues regarding the multiple performances needed. The Olympics has been devalued with this overhaul as we have athletics which is nearly impossible to qualify for and is the pinnacle of the sport and then crappy sports no one cares about that isn't the top dog event so there is no prestige. Yet these events are taking spots away from athletics. Anyway, that is all another discussion.
