Anytime you do a 1,28s PB in the 1500m, you can't complain too much.
Think he has another couple of seconds in him in a optimal race.
Just out of curiosity, I looked to see how Engels compares to the fastest US 1500 and mile times of the last decade. The guy who he is consistently closest to is Russell Brown -- they are always within a place or two of each other.

What's going on with manangoi, he was originally on the list for Brussels.
Pace was too hot in the beginning (55.6 for Craig) and even with that he closed very strong (56.8 last 400). He's got a 3:32 high/3:33 low in him in a more even race. With his tactical prowess, I could see him in the top 6 or 7 in a world Final. Don't see how he's going to beat Cheruiyot, the Ingrebridstens, Manangoi (if healthy), and Makh Daddy though. Still if/when he gets to 3:31 fitness he will be a true medal threat even with guys who are better drag-racers (Musagala, Souleiman etc etc.)

He was out for July and August with an injured hamstring. He won the Kenyan championships a few weeks ago. Afterwards, he said it was the first time in months he'd been able to run without pain. Then he dropped out of Brussels.
There've been a few threads on this here, but nobody knows to know what's up.
Props to Craig. Got a chance to run Diamond League final at last minute. Got on a plane went to the race and ran a Oly. qualifier. That's how a "pro" does it.

You take masking agents also but you know the half lives of the drugs you've taken, so if a tester turns up when you know you'd test positive you just dodge it. If they turn up outside your glowing window you take the test and pass. You'd have to be unlucky for them to turn up three times when you are in your hot window.
I was impressed by this. I thought he’d finish near the back. Excited to what he can do in the future!
