Backstory: i was 18. I was running 40 miles a week and probably in 16:30 5k shape up until September 2018. I broke my tibia and fibula. I then had a titanium rod put in and started running(1 mile a day a couple days a week) about a month later in October. I slowly built up to 20 mile weeks by January 2019, but got a new job and stopped running. So pretty much I used to be fast. I could do 10 mile runs at 90% effort in 60 minutes.
I made a goal: I’m 19. One year after the broken leg. my friend asked if I wanted to do the Paris marathon on April 5th, 2020. I decided to go for it. I made a goal to run sub 2:30. I think that with the right training, I could build up to 80-90 mile weeks and accomplish something at least close to the goal.
I built up to 30 mile weeks over the last month and a half. It’s really easy stuff. I did do a 5.5 mile run @7:07 pace yesterday. I’m not too much faster than that. I’m getting fast really quick from lifting a lot over the last year.
Problem is I have no clue how to build that kind of speed and mileage for a marathon. I mostly ever did 5k races. I did a 7.4 mile race in 40:06 (5:33/mile) last October which was my last race.
Thoughts, questions, tips, or anything would be nice!
