Purrier ran 15:08 this year basically solo. Hull got dragged to 15:00 and got beat by the pacer. I'd take Purrier.
Also saying "she would win US nationals with that time" and then saying "forget Houlihan" is kind of hilarious. I'd win the Olympics if the people faster than me weren't in it too.
If we are talking about versatile, recent collegiate grads, gets forgotten that Gabriela DeBues Stafford only graduated from the University of Toronto this June. She's a year older (23), but is 3:59/14:51 this season. Beat Dibaba, Tseguy, Simpson, Arafi, in Zurich - will be exciting what she can do now she's done her studies.
Purrier had a rabbit the first half and it's still a whole 8 seconds. And you act like the rabbit in Berlin wasn't a stud. 10 of the top 11 at the london DL were all Kenyan, they have depth.
Purrier has similar 1500m speed (4:02) but go outkicked by Schweizer at nationals who has only run 4:06 for 1500m and ran 15:01 at the Sunset Tour meet where she was dragged for 4200m. Hull has consistently shown to have a better kick than Purrier. I'm not taking anything against Purrier, but your comment is a little misleading.
Plus, it's not like Houlihan won with ease, she was doubling back and still look pretty fairly tired down the home stretch. I don't think it would have be outlandish to say Hull could have contended for the win.
