Apparently he'll miss the Chicago Marathon after stepping in a pothole (one of several near the start of the course) at the Crim Ten-Mile in Flint. I know Flint has bigger problems, but for a race like Crim, there shouldn't be potholes on the course

Freak accident, snowflake. We can't bubble wrap the entire world.
Nike is so done with both Chris and Amy Cragg. Neither will be wearing the swoosh in 2021.
I used to think CD was going to be competitive with Galen back in the day, then he breaks your heart once every six months with a race or injury.
WTF is wrong with Jerry's training? Derrick, please for the love of God, get TF out of there ASAP.
Who is TF?
Derrick, Bumby, and Cragg will be cut in 2021. Cragg will retire. If Ryan Hill, Woody Kincaid, and Josh Thompson don’t do anything next year they’ll be cut as well.
Seriously, Derrick has barely been healthy at BTC. He’s been injured more than he hasn’t been. This is bad luck but the writing is on the wall. He will never make an Olympic team. He either never races, because BTC, or he’s injured. Not much value to Nike.

Maybe so. Could end up being better for him. Thankfully, there are a lot of killer brands willing to pick up the people Nike discards, between New Balance (which makes better shoes than Nike anyway), and Hoka (which is...fine). He's 29 and has run 27:31, 1:01, and 2:12. He'll land on his feet.

See If you can put it together now.
Creaky bones that 27:31 was when he was in college does it really mean anything?
A few months back I was attacked on this site for stating ‘Cragg needs to prove Tokyo was not a fluke.’
Apologies noted.

The groups are all getting younger. No to NAZ. No to Hansons. No to ZAP. I believe they are the only fully funded groups other than Nike.

Top 5 American men marathoners of 2019 based on time:
1. Scott Fauble Hoka/NAZ
2. Jared Ward Saucony/BYU
3. Elkanah Kibet Army
4. Bernard Lagat Nike
5. Andrew Colley no shoe sponsors
All the money Jerry and his group gets and their results is pathetic. Sad.

Shouldn’t be potholes on the course.... that’s funny. Clearly you have never been to Flint, MI.
Chris Derrick is what’s wrong with pro running. No personality, no racing, no contribution to anything. The fact he gets paid for anything related to running is ridiculous. Ingebrigten’s on the other hand, kick ass racing year round, cool, social media presence, and their own tv show!

I think Cragg's lifespan with Nike depends on how she does at the OT, but I could very well see her retiring before seeking any extensions. Agree with Ryan Hill. Thompson and Kincaid are too new, I can't imagine them getting dropped until 2022-2023.
So you're saying the City of Flint, where residents still don't have a public water system that provides drinkable tap water, should make sure every pothole is filled for some no name 10 miler?
He should have been looking down at the pavement to make sure he had firm footing. Every hobby jogger knows this. The City of Flint does not have the resources to pave every pothole. If you're going to race in one of the country's poorest cities, you should expect the roads are not going to be in A+ shape. Man up and take some personal responsibility.
Wonder what shoes he was wearing? Vaporfly's could be a factor in this. They have a lot less lateral stability than your typical racing shoe. From wearing mine, I know that taking sharp turns is to be avoided. And I always keep an eye out for uneven surfaces.
