A little background...I’m for all intents and purposes a hubby jogger. I am married with kids and have a full time job. I’m 29 and am running Chicago with a goaltime of sub-3. I know for this forum that is very slow, but for me would be a great accomplishment. I’ve been averaging around 55mpw since May with the last few weeks at 60+. My workouts and recent tune up HM, point to me being on track for sub-3.
So now for the ignorant questions: should I invest the $$ to get a pair of racing flats? If so, how much running should I do in them ahead of time to get used to them? Am I risking injury by running in shoes with less support? I’ve been training in Brooks Ghosts, and was planning on running the marathon in those. My worry is that I’ll be leaving time on the table by running in a heavier shoe.
