If not, why do 100/200m training plans prescribe block starts and some very short sprints 4-7 days out from a race? I have a 100/200m race in 5 days.
Last session was 2 days ago and was a 5x100m @ around 85-90%, 3 days before that I did some short hill sprints with full recovery and a week before that some all out 80m sprints. Will I gain anything doing some short 20m block starts tomorrow with 1 or 2 hard 40m runs, 4 days out from the race? Is it for maintenance only? Really would appreciate a helpful answer.
PS. if you can't gain anything in the last 4-7 days, why bother doing any sprints, starts or anythign at all and just do complete rest? I realize it might be a stupid question, but I can't find anything about this online
