So what? He's a track athlete and the other guy is a football player. The football player, if drafted will be financially better than Boling in the long run.
Only about 5% of football players will get a real shot at the NFL, and much fewer will get a lucrative contract. Boling has just started in college, but he already has buzz. I predict he will continue to impress and the general public will start to know who he is.
Top football programs, especially those in the south - Florida, Georgia, LSU, are loaded with great sprinters so yes, Boling blowing by a GA "football player" is meaningful.
It's a good cross promotional stunt. And it will likely give Boling credibility and respect among his fellow U Ga athletes
That was fun, kind of like Coleman running faster than the combine record while at Tennessee, but with a crowd to watch.
9.98 sprinter blows bast 6'4" high jumper... shocking
Georgia not one of the speed schools in the SEC. Their best sprinter ever Mel Lattany was long ago. And when it comes to fast footballers only Herschel "10.23" Walker deserves mention.
This would be the All Time SEC Football 100m
lane
1.Leonard Scott 9.9 Tenn
2,John Capel 9.9 Fla
3.Trindon Holliday 10.00 LSU
4.Jeff Demps 10.01 Fla
5.Xavier Carter 10.00 LSU
6.Wille Gault 10.10 Tenn
7.Bo Jackson Aub, here it gets funky, he was without question faster than his 10.33. He toyed with track.
8.Curtis Dickey 10.10 Tex A&M (before SEC) only NFL RB to ever be world ranked at 100m
Eddie Kennison LSU a NFL Fastest Man, as was Auburns Alexander Wright.
While the SEC has TONS of quality sprinters they really don;t have all that many footballer/trackster athletes.
Boling's 20.5 200m would already be one of the fastest 200m ever ran by a sprinter at Georgia.
He's actually a 10.13 sprinter, his sub 10,00 was windy.
Now that was awesome.
Fun stuff.
Personally, I think he'll be playing football after he grows a little more. Mo money in the NFL for a fast WR than as a track also ran.
Are we even surprised? lmao I wish him all the best this coming season.

You don't understand how football works. You're not going to walk-on in college having never played football, and expect to have a shot at the NFL...unless maybe you're an elite kicker who came from a soccer background...
But seriously, those guys who make it to the pros usually started playing before high school....

Mo money in MLB than NFL. Why wouldn't he go to the major leagues?? Even more money in soccer. Why not go for that??
Christian "The Nigerian Nightmare" Okoye never played football until he arrived at Azusa Pacific.
I'm thinking TE Antonio Gates never played HS football, he was a basketball player.

Not sure how long that clip goes, but in the clip I saw the UGA football players are all over Boling congratulating him and being amazed at his speed. While Boling hates it, the fact that he is white probably blows their minds.

Has he ever played football at any level? Football is way more complex than most give it credit for.
Reads, Learning offenses (and they are way more complex than the days of old). Being able to get off the line of scrimmage.
Look at the very good sprinters who actually played football in high school or college like Demps and Holliday and how well are they doing?

Those guy did strength events and were already big and powerful. Much easier than going from someone trained as a pure runner.

Punters from Australia have done pretty well, but that is pretty specialized and does not require a ton of "football knowledge". I cannot think of the last NFL kicker who did not kick in college...Yepremian?

Even then you are talking a handful of players...
