Run until I bonk.
It's not like ill be Peaking for anything.
Sounds like the "elite" runner is trying to show off. there is no need to run 6's on an easy run. Every elite will tell you, they run "easy" on easy days.
I slowly increase the pace to 5:50 and see if he notices.
As an elite runner, sure I sometimes run a little quicker on 'easy' days and might do 6 flat pace. But if I'm running with someone that I invited on the run, I would definitely go the pace that they could handle. And 6 flat is on the fast side of any elite runner's 'easy' day... 6:30 or 6:45 or maybe even 7:00 pace still gets the job done for the recovery day, so the elite runner is an @$$ hat if he's going 6 flat with someone on a recovery day that he invited on the run.

I know a guy that would never do 10 miles much slower than that. 6 min/mile is "easy" for him. It hurts his feet to run like 7:30 pace for too long.
Might run slower on a 4 mile two a day. Or a cool down. But that is it.

6 minutes is not showing off.
Nothing happens. We run 6 minute pace. Aint no big thing.
Japanese elite runner, yes. And it would probably be 6 min km pace for 20 km, instead of the American elites.
It would just be something between a moderate or tempo day for me. I’d have to be fresh though.
I don't understand what the issue is. He invited you on a 10-mile run at 6-minute pace. If that would be a good long tempo run for you then go it. If it would be a balls to the wall effort then decline his offer.
I was invited on a 10-mile run at 5:30 pace by a better runner than me. That wasn't all that close to all out for me so it was a chance to have some company for a good workout.
I'd say, "no thanks, but enjoy your run!"
What, I'd have to accept the invitation just because he's a so-called "elite runner"? Whatever, he's no one special to me.
if it was a legendary fella like sir mo, i couldn't say no. I get in 2 and then die. Maybe the thrill of running with Mo could take me close to 3 at that pace. he'd be pretty annoyed with my heavy breathing, spitting, grunting and groaning though!
Now, I get dropped after a mile. 30 or 40 years ago it would have been a respite from a typical English weekly winter club training run, where 6 minute miling would see you well off he back.
I would have run 10 in 60 min or less in training a lot of times, so it would have been no big deal unless I had done something mega the day before.

6:00 pace is easy for them and isn't showing off at all
If Bekele invited me on a run I would literally stick to him as much as possible even if my legs fell off. It would be epic. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TDXxtZrJB_Q

It wouldn't be faking it for me.
My colleague who is a 2:45 PR marathoner actually met Meb training in his neighborhood doing an easy run around 6:10 pace and he ran with Meb for several miles. He has a selfie of him and Meb as proof.
Got to run with Quigley in AZ.. Open invite.. She was just out for an easy jog.
I take my bike.
