Twice in the past week in different locations, I've seen older runners (mid-70's) INSIST on running on busy, asphalt streets instead of the nearby safe, concrete sidewalks. As a runner myself, it takes every ounce of willpower not to you yell, "Get off the street stupid!"
I get that concrete is harder on the body. But is the difference and benefit really worth the risk of running on a busy street?
Is there some sort've old school "I have a right to be on this damn road..." thinking? The sidewalks are perfectly smooth and safe. Maybe it's a passive aggressive thing? I don't get it.
