Prospective athlete here. I know he has a strength focus. Anyone at UT or UNC/Auburn/Virginia alums care to share what goes on?

Teams used to compete against the guy a lot. He likes his tempo work a lot.....lets just say that. Not uncommon to go well over 10k worth of volume at threshold. Continuous tempos can go up to 10 miles in some cases. Reminds me of Dave Smith in that regard.
Not sure what OP's times are, but I haven't seen him really develop talent. Claim to fame is Henry Wynne, a 1:49 guy in high school. Not super impressive to get him to the level he did.
The guy is nuts. Basically trains his athletes for the half marathon. Minimal speed work, extremely long tempos, and other workouts that lowkey end up just being long tempos as well.
I see he's a metal head, so he must have good taste in music.

Sounds like good training for XC and 10000.
I know one workout he prescribed while at UVA was 14 miles at 5:20 pace, so take that as you will.
Watson loves to crush guys. You'll get fit but also leave most of your best races in training. Read some of the ex UVA dudes training logs from 2016/17 season on running2win. slamming tempos at 510-05 average but could hardly replicate the same in races. also double workouts in track am -strength pm- speed endurance. great coach just pushes the dial up a little to high.

Who is on running2win?
