Disclaimer: I am on Strava.
But is wrecking the sport.
So many people are out there racing every single run. I routinely see guys running at 6:15/mile EVERY RUN and then race the 10K at .. wait for it.. 5:45/mile. That means most of their "training" is at roughly marathon race pace. Then they brag about how their legs are tired/they are sleepy which is why they could "only" run at 7:00-7:15/mile every now and then. Their fitness goes absolutely nowhere. It's annoying cause these guys clearly have great ability, but are squandering it for daily likes on strava.
I also have a guy on there whose marathon race pace is about 7:10/mile and he runs most days at 7:30/mile.
Most don't have the discipline to run easy and post it on Strava. It's like all the runners now feel insecure about their fitness so they have to go prove it every run.
Plus the PR's are atrocious. I have a guy who ran NYC Marathon in about 2:59 but his strava said it was 2:51 because the GPS signal bounced around the skyscrapers so much they think he was darting around like superman. But why would he clear that PR from Strava? Makes him look real fast.
