Hello Letsrun first time posting.
I am going to be a senior in high school. I am trying to break 17 minutes for 5k in xc. My prs are 4 : 53 for 1600 10: 39 for 3200 and 5k 17:59. I ran the mile and 2 mile in summer track. The 5k was my sophmore year. I ran a 18:47 my juniot year. I was training like a idiot. I was running 50 to 55 mpw really slow like 7: 30 to 8:00 pace no speed work at all. I felt really tired at the beginning of the season. For the 3200 it was a small meet and i got first. I could prolly go sub 10: 30 with competition. I am running 50 to 60 mpw and training a lot smarter. My easy runs are about 7: 05 to 7: 45 mostly. I am doing 3 days double about 5 to 4 miles in the morning. For workouts I have done 20 × 400 in 73 with 2 minutes rest. I did 4 × 1000 averaging 3: 21 with 3 minutes rest and felt amazing. Also did a fartlek recently 2: 30 hard and 1 minute rest for 25 minutes. I averaged 5: 30 to 5: 40 for the hard part.
Is sub 17 5k possible for me?
