Having to explain to parents that all their beloved top athletes are in fact doping

As a former standout high school and ncaa runner, I can assure you 99% of distance runners in high school and NCAA D1 are not doping.

Professional runners and in other sports, I do not know for certain.

I do know runners in training groups in Oregon that take prescription thyroid medication which allows them to recover much better while sleeping in altitude tents at 13,000 ft and run 100+ miles a weeks while doing 3 intense workouts a week is common.

Are they some of those naive people who think Lance Armstrong wasnt on drugs? I bet they think Barry Bonds and Mark McGuire week clean too.

The level of inadvertent doping is almost certainly higher than 1% even if intentional doping is 1%. You would need to include asthma medication abuse in my opinion which may be unintentional. Supplement abuse also seemed much more prevalent. It seemed like the Animal pump and Jacked 3D were discussed quite a bit years ago, but I believe even at the time those contained banned substances. There is also the case of tainted supplements that have banned substances not listed on the label. Studies have shown in the past that is very prevalent. It would only take a sugar cube sized amount of product to taint supplements at a full dosage over a year.

You do not need to come up with a reason for why everyone is inferior to you in order to protect your ego.

Before the London Olympics, Victor Conte (BALCO) claimed most athletes will be on something. Richard Pound, then head of WADA, said the proportion doping is obviously more than 10% but is unlikely to be as high as 90% - "probably somewhere in-between". If sport was an aeroplane, you wouldn't try and fly it.

They sure do. I know lawyers who have schoolboy athletes on their books, facing doping violations.
