Did anyone else notice he said he was bonking or something the last time he rode that stage. haha. he said it twice actually. is that some sort of gay biker lingo? I remember powerbar tried to get that word to be cool but it didn't work.

i've heard runners use it too actually, usually marathon-types. basically your body runs out of carbs and your muscles and/or brain aren't getting enough oxygen. or something to that effect. in any case, it's not very fun.
Oh I know what it's supposed to mean. As I said, I remember powerbar had a huge BONK ad campaign and it totally flopped I thought. I posted this because I thought it was unusual that he said it.
'gay' biker lingo?
Methinks thou doth protest too much.
Gay or straight or trans, let's see YOU ride up those hills. I would not care to try. I tip my hat to these men, and the women who rode in the ladies' tour.
Bonk is pretty much the standard term in biker lingo - been used for over 20 years. And, George sure didn't know what that word meant today - a huge win at today's stage, and one that is long deserved. Congrats Georgie!
Thank you PC police. In this case, gay can mean "weird", "unusual", "strange", "unexpected", or any number of synomyms of these listed words.
"Bonk" has been a very common word that cyclists have been using for as long as I can remember. It wasn't odd at all. It's not like he said the ride was "groovy."Oh....and you say biker lingo is gay. I suppose you must be implying "gay" compared to how masculine us runners are. Ha!

Bonkthis,
Don't comment on something that you do not know about. In biking, "bonking" is a well used word. Yes Powerbar used it as a campaign slogan that failed but that is the same as a company using the word "awesome" and it failing in marketing keyboards. If you do not know biking, then don't comment on it. I don't know long jumping so I dont comment on their lingo.
To bonk is a British slang for 'to have sex with.'
Only to bigots and to stupid kids who don't know better.
I am NOT PC!!!! Gay actually means cheerful by the way.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrr (no I am not PC)
The British and Aussies have some interesting words to refer to sexual intercourse....Bonking, Rooting, Shagging, etc.
of course in the cyclists lingo, To BONK means to enter into a state of extreme carbohydrate depletion...legs wont move.
In running lingo, the equivalent is "Hitting The Wall"
