What a stud. Can he possibly make the Olympic team in the marathon at age 45?

Maybe he can give sage some advice on how to continue to run well as you age.
BL is the man! I thought that his pacing performance at 42 at the Breaking 2 was more impressive than Kipechoge’s run
How many miles a week is he running now?
Good time. But Kipchoge ran like 2:02 at that age.

Run a 3:26 earlier in life, good luck.
He is 3 min slower than Mungara’s single age WR (he ran 2:09:09 at age 44), but he ran faster than Mungara’s age 45 best of 2:12:47.
Big drop off between Mark Kiptoo’s age 42 best of 2:07:50 and Mungara’s age 45 best of 2:12:47. Then it degrades even faster after that. Age 46 best is “only” 2:15:24...
It will be interesting to see if Lagat can flatten out this “age” performance drop off.
Remember when everyone claimed he was older than he was in college? So he’s really 50 now right?
?????
I laughed out loud!

Do you think he will be able run sub 2:53 at the age of 70?
I personally find his times at his current age to be very suspicious, and plan to fully investigate this performance along with his past marks.

Atlanta doesn't appear to be the type course for Lagat to improve his time to 2:11:30 to hit the Olympic standard.
US marks nothing. Lagat can run a sub 4 mile when he is 45.
Not that I care about the mile, but Eamon Coghlan said it couldn't be done, and want to see him go back to Ireland devastated.
BTW: Lagat now ranked #1 in US in 2019 for non aided course (#4 all courses).

It would be nice to see Bernard Lagat race sub-4 one mile; smart money says he cannot.
I am certain that a 45 year old man training for a 2:12:xx Marathon is easier on the body than a 45 year old man training for a sub-4 one mile.

Only one 45 y.o. man has ever run 2:12:xx and none ever ran 2:12:10 or less.
Some of Jonathan's times are faster than on the USATF list at
Is the USATF site not updated in a timely fashion?

He can get the standard in Berlin, and will already have it by the time of Atlanta.

Agreed. He needs to race in Berlin.

We all know how fast Lagat raced. I was commenting on Lagat racing a sub-4 mile. I am sure there are guys with Marathon personal bests of 2:12:xx with one mile personal bests in (4:12.5 to 4:15) range. It seems as if you want to debate if Lagat really raced 2:12:10.

He won't though.
