ESPN recently had an interesting article ranking the ultimate all-star lineups in NCAA baseball history, based on performance in the majors (not what they did in college):
This got me wondering: if we did the same thing for cross country, which school would have the best 5-man team, based on distance running accomplishments as alumni (considering track, roads, and cross), and which 5 guys would you select for their team?
Note: because this is an all-star team based on what they achieved as alumni, the 5 guys didn't have to be in school at the same time. As an example, a team could be comprised of someone who ran for the school in the 1970's, another from the 1980's, two guys from the 1990's, and a recent alum. It doesn't matter when they were in school, just what they achieved as a runner after they left. It also doesn't matter if they graduated. If they went pro after only one or two years, they are still eligible as long as they competed for the school at some point.
Which school would reign supreme?
I also welcome thoughts on all-time female squads.
