In the eighth grade I managed to go 5:01 with around 2 months of “training”. This generally consist of 10-12 miles a week (including warm ups) and we would run an 800 to warm up then maybe run around the school once (around a mile) and then practice handoffs for like half of practice. I think this training is a joke and now that I’m in high school and am running close to 30 miles a week I’m beginning to become ambitious. I know I have to speed because I ran the 400 in 55.2 and this was 10 minutes after the mile so I need a good aerobic base. I know this is quite unrealistic but I’m gonna give it my best shot as I have a year to do so. Any advice on achieving this would be much appropriated along with how much mileage and workouts that will help me achieve this in also doing cross spin try which I hope will help.
