Ok, coach a girl who finished her HS season undefeated in the 800, she won all races by over a second, most of them more.
Up until this season her PR was 2:13, then in the last 4 weeks she ran 2:12 3 different times and won our state meet with a 2:12 in a somewhat tactical race(tactical isn't the right word but she wasn't killing herself for time, she wanted to put herself in the best situation to win and that is to ensure she is in the race with 100 meters to go and has her kick.
The next week at a post season meet she got a little better competition and won in a big PR of 2:09.43 which we were pumped with. Her splits in that were 65.5 and 63.9. They went out decent the first 200 around 31, but then slowed some and again she was racing the competition and stayed with them before making a strong move with 200 to go. She won by over a second.
Does this indicate she can go a fair amount faster since more 800 PRs aren't done with a negative split?
