Meet is 2 hours today (and it's hot as hell) for tv reasons.
Last night, the 5000 was run in the shade, I doubt that will be the case tonight.

seems like a joke to have an entire season come down to race in almost 100 degree weather......
Why have someone shooting lasers onto the track as well? Or a water cannon?
I get that weather happens, deal with it.....but this was planned. And it is the plan for next year too....
ridiculous
Weather for the women's 1500 final:
98 degrees
Sunny
Feels like 103

Well what events does it really impact?
I'd say nothing but the 5000 in a big way. Steeple yes but not nearly to the same degree as the 5000. But yes it makes a mockery of the 5000. Plays right into Dani Jones' hands.
But for the record., dark sky says its' 96 right now with 3 mphw wind. Dew poitn of 67 and humidity of 40% so it feels like it's 101.
Adva Cohen is LOCK in the steeple.

That's in the shade.
On the track it's probably 115-120°

well the5 steeplers doubling back for the 5 one.....
also most people aren't from Texas, so 100 degrees isn't exactly a non-factor in the steeple. It's not just the race...
can't forget about warm-ups and recovery between events...some people just don't' function properly in that kind of weather
$5 to the first person who can tell me the name of the in stadium announcer that is not Mike Jay. Man does he need some help.
He failed to realize it was a new meet record.
Hull goes home DEVASTATED
What a 1500 final. Jess Hull runs 4:06 and gets beat. Ridiculously fast.
Sinclaire Johnson's coach Dave Smith told me she was super fit, but 4:05? In 98-degree heat in the NCAA final? Phenomenal stuff.
She's now #2 on the NCAA all-time list behind only Jenny Simpson's legendary 3:59 at Pre in 2009.
Jessica Harris ran 4:11 for third and got beat by six seconds. Crazy.

Not sure of the values for Beynon polyurethane, but I think my guess is close enough for government work. It's hot, at least until the Sun starts setting. The Sun's altitude means a lot.
http://www.lhaps.com/images/DogTemperatureArticle_09jun2010.pdfafter first water pit, runner removed with from track burns! water showing signs of boiling, runners called back
Another example proving the point that the 1500m is too short for heat to have a negative effect. Calm is good, doesn't matter how hot it is. And very hot air is lighter to run through.
ouch! that hot wrote:

What? Are you saying that the runners are getting burned by the hot water in the water pits??
Did they start right away with a barrier?
Dang Allie O 9:37.73 in 100+F heat!!
Quote of the day-
“I’m so hot right now and not in the attractive way!”
NCCC wrote:

Yes, because the water jump is outside.
Also, that time gets Allie O the standard for worlds.

by LOCK did you mean losing by 7 seconds and barely holding off 5th place runner?
consider yourself DEVASTATED!

I wondered the same thing. Ran steeple in college and don’t ever remember a barrier in the first 10 seconds like tonight. Error, or factor of outside water jump??
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
Des Linden: "The entire sport" has changed since she first started running Boston.
Matt Choi was drinking beer halfway through the Boston Marathon
