Dear Geordie,
Please go back to the mile/1500m. You are clearly not a 5000m guy. You could have been All-American in that 1500m today.

Thanks! Yes he would have had a shot. It was sad to see him fade before the bell. If he truly was a 5k runner, you would think that race was set up perfectly for him to just tee off on that last lap. No shame, but hope he gets back into miling next year.
I’d say that the heat in Austin was likely a factor. He had a fantastic run at regionals. I wouldn’t write him off as a 5k man just yet but I do think that the 1500/mile is his best even at the moment.
Beamish is using track season to train for XC this Fall. No worries!
Geordie was the 6th man in 39th (33 points) last Fall behind Day, Baxter, Grijalva, Ferro and Lomong. If NAU wants to 4-peat, they are going to need Beamish and Hasty to join Grijalva and Ferro in the top 20, and pray their 5th man (Raff/Quax/Shea/New Recruit?) has a great day.
NAU has a very high quality 'bench'. Besides top new recruits (HS guy from Wisconsin), they already have a number of guys with XC All-American potential. However, if Beamish and Hasty can break the top 20 along with Grijalva and Ferro then that would definitely increase the odds of a 4-peat.
Don’t sleep on Quax. 3:39/13:48 as a freshman will bode well for XC. He’ll be NAU’s second or third guy.
Beamish is an Irish Stout, not a runner.
