What a run. Boxed in no where to run and he takes down Amos in a near pr.
Best race of his life I’d say and he’s atop the world at 800 right now.
Worlds isn’t till September but we’ll done.

Great performance and nice to see him fight through getting boxed and having his rhythm disrupted. Still think Korir is going to be very hard to beat, but he's developing a ton as a racer and should be in 1:42 shape when it counts along with Korir, Amos, Murphy et al.

I hope Brazier doesn't peak to early, but he's just insanely talented and I wouldn't put it past NOP to have him right when it's ready
I feel pretty confident Murphy will peak at the right time which for him I feel like will be a 1:42.5 this season
I said it on the other thread, but I've always feel like he can win any single race against the best but has yet to looked supremely confident in negotiating rounds. I hope that changes this fall!

I'll take the over on Murphy running 1:42.5 this season.

Eh, very early yet. Hopefully he can improve / hold his form. Impressive win over the aging Amos (he's 5 years older than what he claims - just ask his former agent). Murphy was surprisingly quick considering he isn't really doing much sharpening work compared to the other guys - yet. The US has a real chance to damage in terms at this distant, even with the E. Africans still enjoying the politics that allow them to cheat via PEDs.
This was Brazier's best race, even though it isn't quite his fastest.
Certainly a career highlight, so far.
A lot of moves in the last 300m of this race from the contenders. Brazier moved outside and couldn't get around when the others responded. To his credit, he stayed patient. I did think that he put himself in that boxed in position coming into the straightaway though. Amos and Rotich were battling and Brazier cut to the far inside, rolling the dice that someone would move somewhere and create an opening. They didn't, so Brazier went outside. The fact that he could do that little zigzag and then hit the gas again is evidence of superior fitness, but I thought that both Amos and Rotich made little surges over the latter part of the race that prevented their full accelerations at the end too. Great race, but I think all three could run faster right now if they were a little smoother. We'll see if they do later this season.
Anybody have video?
A couple of weeks got, when Donavan got 3rd, he said he hadn't much done speed work yet but just focused on endurance work. His added strength is obviously paying off. The outdoor AR is definitely out the question for him.
I meant the AR is definitely not out of the question this year if this is really his early form.
I just watched the video. Wow. Brazier could've easily run 1:41-high if he hadn't got boxed in with 100m to go. He had to decelerate and couldn't get out of the box to reaccelerate until about 30 meters to go.
No speed yet wrote:

I want to see one or more U.S. male 800m runners earning World Championship medal(s) this year. I do not care if a 1:44.xx gets a medal. An 800m runner capable of: 1) 1:44.75, round one, 2) 1:44.25, semi-finals and 3) sub-1:44 is the guy who will earn a medal.

Baloney. No way was that worth more than half a second or so. He was out of any box as soon as Amos went wide.
This was Brazier nipping Amos on one of his rare off days. Nobody nails every 800, it's not possible, sometimes it's just not there.
No one has mentioned the fact that Amos clipped Kinyamal's heel with 100m to go and lost momentum/speed and had to accelerate again.
Might have earned himself some of the SpecialSauce(tm).

I was yelling at the TV for him to move OUT!! He was moving up with no where to go.
I think of he were in different position coming out of the last curve he could have run faster.
Great win!!!!!
Looks like he's not being conservative with the doping at all..
New event for 2020: 2 x (2x400) mixed. Brazier takes gold.

I'm going to make the bold prediction that Brazier/Murphy get podium spots at worlds AND Tokyo.
