Saw it live and found the clip on Twitter. Pretty wild scene and lots of fans were pretty emotional about it.

Boo hoo
Was someone shooting at her? I heard gunshots
DQ someone in the 1600 for a false start is a joke. I like this girls spirit in terms of not giving up even though she clearly needed to exit the track. I'm sure she's embarrassed by her actions, but that's a champion right there through and through.
So she considers the rules don't apply to her. I wonder what her response would have been if it was a fellow-competitor who was DQ'd. Nothing.
This is tough to watch on many levels. Too bad there’s none of the false start. There’s no set so was it not being still or an actual step.
I can’t help but feel a kid that responds this way probably has never been told no before.
Interesting thing is that if she just would have walked off the track she could have played the late start thing off because the guy wouldn’t have been there.
This state meet looks like a HS dual meet. Why are coaches just walking around everywhere?
Entitlement generation. Obviously the rules do not apply to her.
Does anyone else feel that she was manhandled?
False starts build character

She wasn't accepting the decision of the officials. You would have let her disrupt the race by rejoining it, which is what she was absolutely determined to do?

Champion, or child?
apparently, she's running at Wisco next year. if i were the coach, she wouldn't be running for me next year!
in high school meets, as long as the DQ isn't for poor sportsmanship or something like that, they should just always let the runner finish the race on appeal, even if presumptively DQed, and then they can work out the details within an hour of the race ending. just like runners would be allowed to finish the race even if a blatant foul happened in the last 100m or if a runner stepped inside the track, no reason that also shouldn't apply to fouls at the beginning of the race.
either that, or get rid of false start penalties entirely in 1600m and up (if some jokester purposefully false starts by a mile he could still be nabbed for poor sportsmanship or similar)
not only is it easier logistically at that moment, it's fair to the runner and generally the result of an appeal is gonna be more well-thought-out if they give it more time. yes it would be lame if the winner of states was reinstated an hour the fact, but it's also kinda the only reasonable thing to do, and those cases would probably be rare.

You think she's a boomer?
False start in the 1600?
First we had Iowa, where they can't count to 8. Now this in Wisconsin? Here's to the Midwest breaking off into its own country, called Dumbassstand.
here you go
she is starting position#10
here it is slowed down to .2

sorry I do not know how to format on the site so you will have to click the links,
Looks like she lost her balance right before the start.
Obviously the official should have had them stand up, back away from the line, then bring them back to the line. You can’t start until everyone is standing still.

Yeah, I didn't like that. It would have been better to have her parent(s) get her off the track.

Absolutely! Regardless of her bad behavior, you don't put your hands on anyone, especially a man repeatedly grabbing a teenager like that. Just hold the race until you get the situation under control. If that was my daughter, I would have beat that dude's ass.
... and then knocked some sense into my daughter! :)
Officials trying to enforce the rules by not knowing the rules.
That race should have simply been called back and restarted. The field was not set at the firing of the gun.
