So if I find it I can't put it in a box?
If I cross an ocean it'll just teleport somewhere and continue to follow me?
Ok let's math this out:
500 square miles is a circle with a 12.6 mile radius.
A garden snail can travel 0.029mph according to google.
So over the course of 24 hours it can travel 0.7 miles.
Let's say I reset each day, and it starts at some random place within that circle. What are the odds it starts within 0.7 miles? It's just 0.7^2*pi/500 = 0.003, or 0.3%. That's roughly once a year.
Honestly, nah not worth it. $5 million isn't really enough money to buy my way out of the problem. For $100 million maybe. With that mount of money I'd just get a couple of houses in different places with a bed in the middle of a very large room surrounded by motion sensors and the property (and my cars) would be surrounded by motion sensors too, so at least I'd be alerted to the damn thing so I could move when it got close. $5 million is enough to get a large house in a big city and have enough left over to live off of it, but not enough that it would really change my lifestyle.
There's always the possibility of getting snuck up on when I'm sitting in the grass or something, but I don't really like sitting in the grass in the first place so it's not a huge loss.
