I just did a 5 x 1k workout with 200m jog rest (slightly over 1 minute). My splits were: 3:50, 3:45, 3:44, 3:43, 3:44. I was originally targeting 3:50 but decided it didn't feel too hard and went for 3:45 (6 min mile pace). Still didn't feel totally exhausted at the end, could have done more.
I have been increasing my mileage from cross training (injured) to 35 over the past 6 weeks and haven't had any complications. My previous 5k PR is 20:11, but it is from a while ago when I was not in my best shape.
I am racing next Sunday on a totally flat road course and I am trying to figure out what pace I should reasonably expect from myself as I want to pace this race properly. What would be a reasonable time to shoot for based on the workout above and my kinda limited base?
