Boling is 19. I'm assuming he got held back a year?

19 in a few weeks. In Texas it is very easy for parents to hold back their kids a year. It seems to be very common for kids with birthdates that occur in the second half of the eligible birthdates for a class year. The parents' reason might be they do not want their kids lagging in development behind their classmates--more bullying--, or they intentional want their kids to have a physical advantage over their classmates.
Say what you will about Tortu, but he’s pretty good.
His start here wasn’t great, but he also didn’t burn up too much energy doing it. And he blew away Brown (who does not suck) in the transition.
Talk about mad turnover—unlike CL, who had mediocre turnover but huge stride length. Dolt had both. It will be tough to tweak Tortu to run a bit lower and a bit longer, because that brings about a major change in mechanics. IMO it would have been much easier to have given CL turnover than to give PT stride length.
But here’s to hoping. This was probably a 10.10 basic, which is decent in May.
The 100m is looking interesting this year, lots of international contribution, and lots of competitive guys. Lyles and especially Coleman are a bit ridiculous, it looks like the USA has taken over from JAM in that department.
And speaking of JAM, we have yet to see what Powell can deliver this year.
The really good news on the season so far, IMO, is Zohri. His basic form is sound, his turnover is good, and he looks very smooth while sprinting. This guy is a gem, everything about him seems right.
Also some no-name Africans coming along, which is great. Tortu will have his hands full, even if he makes it to 10-flat basic.
Here in Italy we are waiting for Tortu’s races with enormous hopes. We haven’t had a sprinter like him since maaany years. Pay attention to his 200m in Rome, the 6th of June. I think he’s gonna be very fast
I like him way better than guys like Collio and DiGregorio, that’s for sure!
And yeah, his 200 will be interesting. Was fun to see him alongside Brown here, a good 200m guy in his own right.
What does this have to do with Matthew Boling?
So, a 20-year old guy in Italy runs a little faster than a high school kid with a wind-aided time. And this means Boling "ain't got nothing"? Relax with the hyperbole. Let's see what Boling does in college before we start writing him off simply because some guy in Italy ran a decent time.

Wind-aided.
The worst start you'll ever see.
Holy crap he almost interfered with the guy on his left.
Yes and slightly at altitude, always known as a fast track on the track circuit.
Both talented young athletes, maybe we will see a race between the two in the near future!

Looked like 45 strides. Basically same height and weight as Boling.
I could see a 9.97 legal from Boling just before turing age 21 next season.
Let's face it, a long way from a 9.67.
He’s 18, how can he turn 21 next season?
A certain tribe of people keep throwing shade at Boling in roundabout fashion. They hate, eh, success in any fashion from people of Boling's ilk. That's because they've browbeaten 99% of "that" segment of the population (via media power) into believing they can't really succeed in anything like other people.
Tortu broke 10 last season, and he seems to be improving each season. The white SJWs are funny in that they can't ask themselves who has taught them to hate their own, belittle their own. They cry about Boling turning 19 AFTER he graduates yet said nothing when it was basically shown that Cheserek was 19 as a HS soph. All they do is deny this and immediately find a paleface to scream about. They're pathetic.
What I like is that "tortuga" is the Spanish word for tortoise.

Maybe if you re-read my post, you'll notice I said he "can" run those times. As in he is "capable" of running those times. Which is he is, easily.
Mo Farah was capable of running in the 12:40s for the 5k, but never did. Kejelcha was capable of medaling at worlds in the 5k, but was 4th twice. I’m not saying you’re wrong about his capabilities; I’m sure he can run times around there in the future (along with a wind legal sub 10), but his capabilities are honestly irrelevant in this conversation.
Farah was back-to-back with that double Gold tho... and Kejelcha is just reaching his prime. Just remember this conversation in two years or so, so I don't have to say I told you so. His capability is not irrelevant - it's an important talking point since he hasn't had the volume of international experience that Tortu has had to uncover his full potential.
