What the f*** do you know about high volume. Asshole. Jordan, is barely runnign 3-=40 miles a week. By the way, she can handle any volume given to her. You all are just so jealous.

Re-read my post. It was simply an observation. Lighten up.
holy mother f ing crap. when is this girl going to stop? she ran 4:28.79 on sunday at Granada HS in Livermore! this is the national youth record and she also has the national youth 3000m record in 9:37.24. how long will it be before she breaks the national HS records in the mile and 2 mile?
She is truly the shit. Hopefully she'll end up being hot too.
any1 think she will make footlocker nationals in the fall?
let's see what puberty has to say about that
Do you also ask what menopause will do to Paula Radcliffe as a masters athlete?
but of course
This thread is worthless without pics.
Her Dad is bad for her. That is all I will say about this scenario. Racing vs. moderate training at this age should be considered a crime. Where is social services when you need them.
She says in an interview posted on dyestat that she is runing 40-50 miles a week, plus swimming.....is this considered a lot for a 13-14 year old girl?
yes if she keeps running like this she will probably make footlocker nationals as a freshman
woohoo nicole blood made footlocker nationals as a freshman and has gotten trashed on various message boards ever since
woohoo erin davis won footlocker nationals as a freshman and doesn't even run now (and i don't think was ever all american in college)
actually without even trying i can think of at least 5 freshmen in the 2004 national race which probably means there were more

Really?? That's not what Mr. Joe Rubio said a couple months ago on this board. He claimed she was doing much less running with no speedwork. All fun and games. I questioned that, based on her times. Even for an extremely talented athlete, which she certainly is, I don't think a girl her age runs those times on relatively low mileage with no speed work, even if she does swim.
I have a daughter the same age who is also a swimmer and runner. I know how much swimming helps. But an athlete still has to run fast in training to run such exceptionally fast times.
Is 40-50 miles a week a lot for a 13-14 year old girl? That depends. In 8th grade spring track, my daughter never ran more than 17-18 miles a week, plus 3-4 swims a week. She's no Jordan Hasay, but she ran some solid times for a girl her age (5:30 mile). As she gets ready for HS cross country, she's running 6 days a week this summer and is up to about 32 MPW. She should top out at about 40MPW before returning to school. All the running is aerobic (easy-moderate with some hill work) and no racing. I think that's enough to build a good base without being too much. So, to answer your question, with a swimming background I think a girl that age can handle that much mileage.
Jordan Hasay races an awful lot for a girl her age, in my opinion. But she is a great athlete and hopefully will have a great career.
Hasay actually runs about 55 miles per week. Does high level anaerobic training 2X a week. Someone please tell me why parents allow their kids to be run into the ground as such a young age.
My young 13 year old daughter wanted to play with fireworks. I said no. Should I have let her? After seeing how Jordan's father allows hhis daughter to be run into the ground, I am second guessing myself and probably should have let my daughter play with those fireworks. She probably would not have hurt herself...at least this time.
The day will come when Hasay will self-destruct. Her father should not be allowed to parent any children. Bad Dad!!!
3 mile swims? Wouldn't that take around 90 minutes, depending on her swimming ability? On top of 40-50 mpw of running, that's quite a bit of volume.
if she is happy with herself it's really no ones right to tell her she should not be allowed to do this. turinesh dibaba was a world 5k champ at age 17, and ran 1430 for the world junior record at 18, my guess is dibaba was doing at least as much intensity and/or volume as hasay when dibaba was 13-14, and in an interview dibaba did not sound like she is going to mentally burn out any time soon, dibaba said i want to run the world record and win the olympics in the marathon, but she said not for another 10 years at least, she wants to as fast as she can on the track first.

Not according to Jordan. Read the Dyestat article.
i think its interesting, we always hear stories of african kids running 10 kilometers to school and back, 20 km a day 5 days a week plus usually work like on farms and/or playing sports like soccer. and this is often theorized as the building foundation of their success in running, when an american or european does similar volume and/or intensity, a lot of people say the kid will burn out. british coaching great frank horwill says running fast at a young age wont burn out a kid, look at the africans they dont burn out, they get fired up to dominate the running world.
