That's some incredible depth. They got 4 in last year(and infamously bombed at nationals) but 6 is a whole new level.

Right. Because every other coach thinks “I could send 6 guys, but I don’t really think I need to”

and Peter Lomong has a top 10 and top 30 finish at XC nationals the last two years but can't seem to make it to Regionals in the 5 or 10k.

What does that tell you? Maybe track is a different ball game.

A different ballgame that BYU has yet to score over 20 points in, indoors or outdoors, the last couple of years. Let's hope they can get over that low bar with the army of guys they have running and then please let me know where we are getting together for the circle jerk.

A different ballgame that only allows for 8 collegiate athletes in the nation to score points in any said event. Neutralizing depth, unlike cross country.

You could have 6 guys at nationals and 3 make it top 8 in the whole nation going 4th, 6th, and 8th at nationals and still score less the the first place finisher of a team with only 1 guy in the event.

Track and field scoring favors star power. That doesn't make elite depth less impressive.

There are 150 teams competing in the West. Schools can only give out 12.6 scholarships. 12 guys moved on in the 10k and 6 were from 1 school. That statistic is unbelievable. Will any other school send 6 individuals across all events?

Why can't people stop hating? BYU has a very successful program! They haven't won a title because NAU is better in cross country. If NAU didn't have such a legendary team, BYU would have won last year and possibly the year before. BYU consistently places very high. Celebrate their achievements. Stop berading them for not being as good as someone else.

Very, very impressive on BYU side. Would you rather qualify 6 of 12 like the BYU men; or the top 2 overall like UNM women? I think UNM women will outscore BYU men at nats, personally.

They just broke the division 1 record for most athletes by a team in a track and field final.

The previous best mark was set all the way back in 1975 with 5 athletes in the decathlon, by a team named Brigham Young University.

Back to the first post. So neither Dani Jones or Erika Burke did the 1500?

Cuz nuthin says domination like running 23 and 24 year olds against 19 & 20 y.o.'s in the 10k.

I think Dani's just running the 5000 this year. She's coming off an injury and has only raced a few times since her xc win. She obviously isn't sharp enough to run a fast 1500 right now.
