Hi all,
I'm a 22 year old looking to get back into athletics after 5 years or so.
My PBs/PRs are as follows
400 - 52
800 - 2.00 high
not so sure about 1500, never really ran one while decently fit.
5000 - low 18
I ran these times at 15/16 years old off ok training, but not great. In the past, I would never put in the mileage as I hated long runs by myself. Trained 2-3 times a week, just speed endurance.
These past 3 weeks i've been on a few runs and really enjoyed it. It's made me really miss the feeling of racing. I'm looking to break 2 for the 800 as I regret having never done so. I've gone from a 25min 5k to a 21min in the space of three weeks and ran a 37min 8k today after only managing to run 7.7k in 40 minutes ago just last week.
I'm looking to run as fast as I can in the 800 next summer. But since I've been at uni I pounded the alcohol and smoked, at an estimation, 200-300 cigarettes, so I'm afraid I've done some irreversible damage to my body.
I like to think I have some natural talent. I'm fairly fast, could probably run 11.8ish for 100 right now, and also have good stamina when I want to.
If i absolutely pound training for the next 14 months, run at least 50mpw and train speed 2-3 times a week, realistically, will I be able to break 2 by then?
Cheers
