The main aim is to contend for the win in such a loaded field. A fast time would be very nice. A sub-27 would be the target but given ideal weather is forecasted, Julien will go out with the leaders even at 26:45 pace. Is Mo Farah's ER in danger?

Id love to see Farah's record usurped. The less of him, the better.
Usually you can't be all full rocket sauce mode at track races like road races. I predict a 27:20-27:40 time for him.
I think Mo is a better track runner, he hasn't translated his speed 100% on the roads, and I think Julien is the opposite. Julien is an animal on the roads, but can't quite find the track speed. I'd be impressed if Julien runs under 27:00, low to mid 27 is more likely.
Mid 27 would get him a 30 seconds or so PB as well! Not too bad..
I find it surprising that people think J.W. can just pop a sub 27' - it seems people do not realize how qualitative and elite that type of time is.
Some points: Yes, J.W. is a great road runner - one of the best on the planet, but that does not necessarily translate to the track. I have seen him in many races - and the typical scenario is - bam, he goes out with the leaders, no matter the pace (i.e. 13 minutes for 5000 - which imho is way above his level, and then he slowly blows up in the latter stages...What is his best 5000? right around 13.30 right?
In any case, anything under 27.50 would impress me from Julian, and if he runs around 27.40 or under, I would think absolutely great for him.
Horses for courses, and for him, the track is nor really his course - partly mental, partly physical. There are other cases like him.

Do you for sure they are pacing for a sub 27 or are you just making it up?
He ran over 28 last year in Oslo on the track. However, he ran 27:25 on the road December 30, 2018, which indicates that he can run low 27 or high 26. His 5000m track best is just 13:24, his road best 13:29, neither of which indicates that he is close to 27 10k shape but this is a guy with excellent speed decay. He did improve 28 seconds in the 3k last year (8:18 to 7:50). A 27:25 road guy with 59:13 half should challenge 27 on the track. A 13:24/13:29 guy should not. I think he's on the upswing on the track. The key for him really is whether he has been doing quicker, race-specific stuff or continued to train for the half. The latter won't get it done, the former could.

You're on letsrun.com. What do you think the answer to that question is?
Please don’t use the word qualitative like that again.
JW is in great track shape. You are in for a surprise. Not sure he'll bust 27' but he'll be close enough.

No.
Last I looked, there was one runner with a sub-27 pb in that race, and only three sub 27:20. It will be a miracle if anyone in the field goes sub 27.
Dejen Gebremeskel went 26:51 solo in Sweden a few years back, but he was already a 12:46 5000 guy. Are there any of those in this field?
Rhonex will go for a sub-27 for sure, he wants to be in the WCH team in september. I have a feeling an even quicker pace will be requested, as in 26:45
I concur. My head hurts right now.

Wanders sucks on track
Who?
On what dope is he on?
Oh, just the European record holder in the 10K & half marathon, and the world record holder in the 5k. I bet you know who Sydney maclaughlin is...the person that has no world, continental, nor national records. Wonder why?
