Hi, I just ran at a championship meet. I ran a quadruple, running the 4x8, 1500, 3000, and 4x4 in the same meet. I ran 8:48.22 (8:48.00 is the standard) in the 3K, my first outdoor 3K ever. If I point out that my time was run completely alone in my third race of the day do you think that the NBN people might make an exception? I have a couple more opportunities but it would be really inconvenient if I ran the 3K in those.
Dude, if you can write a check, they will take it. Almost doesn't matter what you run.

Yes you should be fine, I was on a relay which was .92 over the nationals standard and we were accepted

Very funny. They will take a check, they accept projections, they accept checks. They make up new divisions, new races, it is about the money.
They have freshman divisions, fastest neighborhood kid, they take anyone.

From the New Balance Nationals Outdoor Entry and Seeding Rules - 2019:
". . . we do make allowances for reasonably small variances. That determination is made at the sole discretion of the Seeding Committee."
Seeing as you are looking to race in an Emerging Elite event rather than a Championship event, the meet organizers may be a bit lenient. Also, you would have to take 0.04% off of your time to meet the standard, which I believe is a close enough margin that you have a good case to argue for an exception, especially taking into account the conditions under which you raced your 8:48.22 (congrats by the way, nice time). So, yes. The NBN people might make an exception.
