ive been on letsrun pretty frequently lately and its begun to occur to me that the training my xc team got was god awful. we trained more like sprinters and despite the fact that we ran a 3k as a race we would rarely run a 3k with all of practice combined! (including warm-ups!) there were days we would do 100m sprints and stairs before meets and we often spent half the tie doing drills. i still managed to get a 10:58 3k which is decent but after talking to a friend about it we both realized we could have been so much better if we had any good training. We never did a long run once our "long run" was 1.23 miles which is shorter than what we run in meets! theres not much else to this i just want to complain about the awful training. it makes me look forward to high school though where theres actually good training.
