Pretty darn good. While the 8th best 3200 ever for a HSer, the mark is just a few seconds outside the top 10 all time if you equate all 3ks and 3200s to 2 miles as 10th all time is 9:55. for the full two miles.

IN the boys race, 5 guys borke 9:00 led by Matthew Payamps who ran 8:52.30. Payamps is headed to Gtown next year.
Would have liked to see Tuohy racing Starliper. Starliper looks ready for 9:50 in the right race given the negative split leading start to finish.
A buddy of mine who called me up when Grant Fisher was in HS and told me that Fisher wasn't even the best guy in Michigan (He was hot on Donavan Brazier) thinks Starliper might be better than Tuohy down the road.
Tuohy did not look good at all in winning the mile in 4:46. Perhaps in the middle of hard training for the late season 5000 meters, but just did not look good today.

Also notable is 14 year old Aidan Puffer's solo 9:10:33 in the first heat.
The age 14 two mile WR is 9:15.6.
Last month Puffer ran a 14:47 which is the age 14 5000 WR.
If you think Starliper is your undervalued asset, then look to Tori Starcher and Lipley, WV.
One of the best recruiting coups will be to get Tori Starcher. She has been at many national level HS events, yet seems to fall under the "bright lights" of other runners from NY and elsewhere. IMHO Tori is someone that a top 10 program should pull out all the stops to attract to their program.
If I were still a D1 head coach, Starcher would be very high on my radar.
What is the freshman 2 mile HS record? He is probably not too far.

Sorry to burst your bubble Marlee Starliper fans, but Mary Cain's 9:38.68 full 2 mile and Katelyn Tuohy's 9:01.81 3000 are superior to Starliper's 9:54.75 3200.

This seems obvious. If anyone things Tuohy has much of a future they haven’t been paying attention. The route they are taking is 100% asking for failure.
You'd have to be daft to believe that Tuohy, the holder of multiple high school and US Junior records from the mile to the 5000, has much of a future in running.

You are probably right--got the impression she may have been ducking from Starliper. On paper, they are not far from each other so winning would be no guarantee. The mile field was considerably weaker than the 3200 for the girls and 4:46 is probably close to her typical split on a good day. Touhy's strong in track but cross country is where she really excels.
Centrowitz used to race for a Maryland hs, probably about a minute faster than 9:54
