Im in the 8th grade and my pr for the 400 is 55.2 I’ve ran it 3 times in meets and my strategy is going out really driving hard, attempting to keep that speed for the backstretch and reaccelerating in the last 400 meters. Is this way if running the 400 good for PRing and how can one train to improve it. Ive also started running the mile this year and have a 5:11 PR and my main strategy is to pace off someone then sprint at the end. I’m kind of the jack of all trades of the team and have run the 200 in meets to the 2400 and have won both at points so my training is all over the place a lot of the time. Should I try specializing in one event? My best events are the
400-55.2
800-2:15 (ran once)
and 1600-5:11
People say I should try specializing in the mile or 400 so which one would you guys reccomend. Any advice on being down my 400 time? It’s an event I don’t really train for or have much experience in so any help would be a great.
