It's one thing to overpay for Nike or Saucony, at least their tech is proven and their shoes look good. With Altra, you're reaching for the zero drop panacea and willing to look bad in ugly shoes to do so. I used to feel this way about Hoka wearers, but Altra has squarely replaced them. It's completely involuntary and automatic, I look down on you.
Agreed. They are horrible and look horrible.
My brain judges the person before I can even think through the justification process of actually judging them. It's automatic.
altras fit my feet better than other shoes, if you dont like them you can suck my balls hanging over the side of your bridge you troll

I once won a $100 gift card for them in a race. Went to the website, picked out some shorts and tights I think... There was no place to enter my gift card code in the first order screen. I hit continue, it processed the payment and charged me (I was accepting a place to enter promo code and hit confirm).
Now fast forward a while (present day years later).... The shorts and tights never came. Load of crap on multiple levels.

I just picked up my first pair of Hokas ever from the Running Warehouse clearance event, and they're garbage. I've been rotating between Nike, New Balance, and Adidas over the last couple years and the Hokas are just so cheap feeling and basic compared to any of them. They aren't even cushy either. They're just like bricks of hard foam. Definitely gonna get my money back.
Also I agree about Altras. I've never worn them, but they also look super cheap, along with being hideous.
I've been running for 20 years including D1 at a power 5 school and have never been able to run as injury free as I have in Altra shoes. I've tried tons of different brands and they are by far the best. Now I'm running times in my mid 30's that I wasn't even running in college.
I’ve never tried Altras, but they look like Achilles tendinitis waiting to happen.

Well they better care, because zero drop only works long term for a slim segment of the population. You can get that type of toebox with a more sane stack height in the Topos, and they look much better to boot.

fair enough, but ill judge the person for having platypus feet. The altra toe box is in no way the shape of my foot. It's like throwing a hot dog down a hallway. My dad with fat feet and ginormous bunions loves altras though.

I can't wear nikes because my feet don't fit in anything they have. That doesn't make people who wear nikes wrong. It means they have different feet than I do.
The toe box has eliminated almost all of my running injuries. The zero drop is fine for anyone as long as you didn't spend your life with 8mm+ drop shoes. If you did wear shoes with a drop, you'll need time to adjust to zero drop.
Carry on with the judging. I hope it helps heal your sole.......
