What other hobbies, how many hobbies do you have?
Nothing that benefits running. Just violin, dance practice.
But I already spend a couple of hours a day practicing violin. It's just a priority. Weekends I practice more.
Dance, if fairly serious e.g., ballet, ballroom or even breakdance can benefit (flexibility, balance, ankle strength, proprioception). Music practice make you better at using your feeling instead of robotically following the watch.
More to the point, if you are constraint by the time available, I'd say go ahead and sign up for the race. Don't be fixated on sub-3 hour though (sub 3:30 seems straightforward although you might do better). Figure out the realistic pace by running a half-marathon few weeks before. Try to swap some time slots with other hobbies to get 2 or 3 hour long run, taking run-free day after. It doesn't have to be every week. Few times in the whole training cycle should be helpful already. I'm sure you're aware the marathon isn't just 4.2 x 10k or 2 x half. Glycogen depletion at 20 miles is the special thing that needs to be experienced and got around by long run.
