For real. Solid showings in the 5000 for sure.
Please tell me about everything they are doing wrong, though.

Aussie Gusman is off to worlds so a great result for him! Impressive effort from their group, and Gusman and Hunter in front of Jenkins was interesting.
The consistency of runners training under Tinman is incredible. They never have bad races - always showing up when it matters.
There is something coach Schwartz is doing right with his training philosophies. I expect to see more success from Tinman in the near future and also the establishment of a female squad.
Steeple boys could step it up I think.

I'd say the steeple boys and the guy in the 1500m had less than ideal runs. They're only in their first year with the program, first year at altitude etc, so I'll give them a pass. Makes Gusman's run even more impressive
Meaningless meet

Yes, not a good showing at all in the steeple

Is running well at Payton Jordan "showing up when it matters?"
Not trying to dog on their performances, but sheesh... y'all are drinking the kool-aid. Hunter is the one with the most success at meets that count, but the rest have yet to really perform at any global competition, so making that claim is difficult. Parsons is really the only one with international competition, and he was last at European Indoors.
As to claiming that "there is something coach Schwartz is doing right", I still think it's too early to call. Give it a few years, and then we can say whether or not he's really doing anything "right."
Hunter has been a little dissapointing. There have been other American-born runners that did, or could have, run 13:21 as a 21-year old.
Very solid showings.
Hunter is unbelievably talented. He was hurt all fall and he beat both of his teammates who have been healthy and consistently training all year.
A lot of posters critique Tinman but remember that the athletes that he’s gotten aren’t Centro or Jenkins or Murphy, etc. They come to Tinman at a much lower level, much slower times. A little over a year ago Parsons was just under 14. Now he’s run 13:22. That is tremendous improvement.
It was Hunter’s second-ever 5000, I believe. And he ran his last mile in 4:10. Who knows if he focuses on the 5000 this year instead of the 1500, but if he does, I could see him breaking 13:10, or running well in a tactical race. Not sure if I see him making the world team though—I’d put Fisher over him.
4:06 last mile for the three Tinmen. Kejelcha closed in 3:57 with a 2:23ish last k.

Not quite. Just watched it again. They were at 9:11 at 3400, so maybe 4:09 point for Hunter and Gusman. Looked like 64, 64, 62, 60 for the last few laps for them. And Kejelcha was 4:00.

So you only would have been impressed if he'd run faster in this race than any other American 21 year old ever had?
As an aside, it would be interesting to see how many American 21 year olds have run faster that 13:21. Anyone have access to a list of something like that? "Could have" doesn't count either.

Highly innacurate. Hunter and gusman ran 4:09 high. Parson just over 4:10. Kejelcha 4:00.5. Feel free to check my math

That's not really accurate. All the guys who didn't make the final finished behind him.

Fine, he was uncompetitive in the final against garden variety Euros.
The list of Americans to have runner faster than Drew Hunter at 21 or younger is comprised of just Adam Goucher and Josh McDougal.

The time you list for Adam Goucher is from 2006, when he would have been 31, not 21. Is it possible this was a mistake? I really don't think that Goucher ran faster than 13:21 while he was in college.
